Harry was born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire in the first quarter of 1918 to parents Ernest and Agnes Emma Hill nee Edgeler
According to the 1921 census Harry aged 3 was living with his parents and two siblings at 6 Ethelbert Square, Westgate on Sea, Kent. Also living with the family were two boarders. Harry’s sister Agnes was born in 1906, his brother Ernest (1915-2003) served with Birmingham City Police during the war.
Harry’s father Ernest, born in Dudley, was a mechanic at Maidstone Gas Works but was out of work at this time.
Harry married Betty Phyllis Hope in Warwick in 1941. They had one son Robert Harry Hill. Despite his marriage, probate was granted to his father Ernest who was living at 37 Lyttleton Road, Warwick at that time.
Robert died aged just 22 in 1964. His address at the time of his death was 84 Greville Road, Warwick and he was a secretary. Robert’s mother (Harry’s wife) must have married again as Robert left his estate to Betty Phyllis Evans
