Alec was born in Warwick on 30th June 1906 and was baptised at St Paul’s Church on 25th July 1906. He had one sister, Honor (1907-1973). His parents were Henry Charles and Laura Elizabeth Mary Taylor (nee Woods).
In 1911 the family were living at 3 Fair View Terrace, Linen Street, Warwick. Alec’s father Henry was a horse dealer. In 1921 Alec’s mother Laura died, and the census shows that Alec and his father were living at 29 Lower Street, Warwick and Henry is now a cab proprietor, based in Bowling Green Street.
Alec married Ruth Edna Francis on 15th December 1928 at All Saints’ Church. His profession was recorded as a motor driver. They had one son Graham (1932-1997).
In 1939 Alec, Ruth and Graham were living at 41 Queen’s Square and Alec was a wholesale and retail grocers’ salesman. Alec died aged 38 from cancer of the gall bladder in 1945. This report of the funeral provides the names of family and friends.

Ruth subsequently married Paul Taaffe in 1948 and died in 1992 aged 89.
