Aston, Walter C

Age: 25
Date of birth: c1919
Parents:
Wife: Irene E Aston nee Ollerenshaw
Address: 65 Beauchamp Avenue, Warwick
Occupation:
Walter was born in Stratford upon Avon on Feb 4th 1918. His birth record states that his mother’s maiden name was Newman.
The 1921 census states that Walter is an adopted child and his father was dead (perhaps killed in WW1?) At the time he was aged 3 and living in Harbury, Warwickshire with Hannah Blackwell aged 68 who is single and with four other adopted children aged from 2 to 15 years.
On Walter’s military record it is noted that he was a nephew and ward of Clara Smith of Welford–on-Avon so she must have connected with Walter some time following 1921.

He married Irene E Olorenshaw in Warwick in the 3rd quarter of 1941.
At first Walter was reported as missing on 16th February 1944 but four days later he was found to have died of his wounds whilst a prisoner of war in German hands.
Irene remarried in 1945 to Wilfred Jack Basley – the last address we have for Wilfred is 56 Millbank, Warwick.
