Jack was born in the second quarter of 1916 in Clutton, Somerset. He married Jessie M Law in Warwick in Q4 of 1939.

We can find no other details of Jack Smart or his wife. His name was included on page 429 of the South Warwickshire “Black Book” with the personal details shown.

According to POW records Jack was captured in Hong Kong on Christmas Day 1941. He was initially reported as missing but was sent to Shamshuipo POW camp where he died of dysentery on 13th February 1942.
