62,438 Poppies

The spectacular Warwick Poppies 2018 display in the Collegiate Church of St. Mary was officially opened at a gala dinner in the church on October 5th.

The project to mark the sacrifices made in WWI by the Royal Warwickshire Regiment – ‘The Warwicks’ – was organised by a group of volunteers who wanted to gather together a hand-made poppy for every one of the 11,610 RWR soldiers killed during the war, for a display in St. Mary’s marking the Armistice Centenary on November 11th.

In the end, many times that number were sent in by individuals, local organisations, schools and from people living around the world who have a connection with The Warwicks. An amazing total of 62,438 poppies were submitted and now decorate the church.

Th poppy display will be available to view every day until  December 9th. (10am to 4pm except Sundays which are 12noon to 4pm).
