Excellent response to appeal for pictures
Just a few days after the launch of Unlocking Warwick’s appeal for photos and information about the Warwick Fallen from WW2, the family albums have been opened up, and the research team members are responding to a lot of local people who have made contact about their relatives.
The aim is to have a photograph or a picture of the grave of every one of the 112 WW2 names on the Warwick War Memorial. So far we have found portraits of about half of the men, so there is a long way to go.
We are also seeking the personal memories of people who are old enough to remember what it was like living in Warwick during the war. It will be good to record their experiences for posterity.
So if you know of someone in their eighties or nineties who was in the town during WW2, we will be happy to phone them for a chat about their experiences. Email Christine Shaw at info@warwickwarmemorial.org.uk if you can put us in touch with anyone who can relay their personal memories, or if you have additional information about those commemorated on the brass plaques on the Warwick War Memorial.
