‘I can’t go to the war!’ Talk on 18th March

Men, their families or employers could appeal their conscription to fight in the First World War for a variety of reasons – medical or commercial, as well as having moral objections.

On March 13th from 1pm-1.30pm at the County Record Office, there will be a chance to see a selection of the appeal papers which reveal some of the impact of the war at home here in Warwick.

‘National Service Appeals – the Warwick District Appeals Tribunal’ will be a free lunchtime talk, part of the County Council’s ‘Show and Tell’ series. There is no need to book; just turn up at the office in Priory Park. 01926 738959.
