Oct 13th – Fusiliers Parade

On Sunday 13th October at St. Mary’s Church, the Fusilier Association Warwickshire will hold its annual service followed by a parade in Northgate Street. This year is the centenary of the outbreak of the Second World War when the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, ‘The Warwicks’, served with distinction and sustained hundreds of casualties.

In 1963, the regiment was re-titled as the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers and became part of the Fusilier Brigade. In 1968, by now reduced to a single regular battalion, the regiment was amalgamated with the other regiments in the Fusilier Brigade – the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) and the Lancashire Fusiliers into a new large infantry regiment to be known as the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, becoming the 2nd Battalion of the new regiment.

A review of the association and cadets will take place in Northgate Street from 4pm to 5pm with a band playing.
