Western Front Association
On June 9th, Unlocking Warwick’s Secretary Rick Thompson gave a short presentation about the Warwick War Memorial project to members of the Heart of England branch of the Western Front Association.
The members share a keen interest in the First World War. Many had relatives involved in the conflict and have researched their individual stories. Some are writing books and others write blogs about their discoveries from the archives. The association meets on the second Wednesday of each month. It often has guest speakers and organises visits to the battlefields and cemeteries in France and Belgium.
The meeting room at the Warwick Arms Hotel had about 40 members present for their AGM, and they expressed strong support for Unlocking Warwick’s war memorial project. One described the special website as ‘a terrific resource’ and ‘full of interesting material’. Any information they find about The Fallen from Warwick will be passed on for inclusion on the website.
