Bull, Percy

Age: 26
Date of birth: 14th February 1892

Parents: Charles and Rachel Bull (nee Deeming)
Wife: Single
Address: 101 Emscote Road

Occupation: Railway Porter

Percy was born in Coventry in 1892 but not baptised until over 5 years later on 8th December 1897.  His father, Charles, was a carpenter and joiner.  Percy had an older sister Annie (born 1887) and an older brother, Charles, (born 1890).  Annie died in 1896.

By 1901, the family had moved to Warwick and were living at 72 Humphris Street.  The census shows that all of the family were born in Coventry.

Ten years later, the family were living at 101 Emscote Road, with Charles senior still working as a carpenter and joiner.  Charles junior was a cabinet maker and Percy was working as a railway porter.

Percy joined the railway company in 1907 and his employment record shows that he received rises in his wages from 9s a week in May 1907 to 15s in June 1910.  The records also show him to be “class A” and “heir appt” which may mean that he was destined for promotion.

Percy left his personal effects to his father Charles, who lived until 1942.  His mother Rachel died in 1926 and his brother lived until 1958 and was married with three children.
