Harry was born in Q4 1898 to parents Harry and Lily Taylor. By 1911, Harry had a sister Jane (born circa 1902) and the family were living at 44 Eldon Street, Sheffield.

Harry’s name appears on the Warwick War Memorial because a Shrine Application was sent in by Mrs Lillian Stretton (nee Flogdell) of 109 Emscote Road, Warwick. We have been unable to find the connection between Harry, Mrs Stretton or Warwick.

Harry enlisted in 1914 and initially served as a Private for the Yorkshire and Lancashire Regiment, with the service number of 17380.

He was later promoted to Lance Corporal with the East Yorkshire Regiment with a service number of either 31141 or 31341.
