At 12noon there will be a short wreath-laying service at St. Mary’s Church. Then at 2pm Ian Binnie will deliver his talk again at the Fusilier Museum at St. John’s House. Gallipoli poster
The campaign was a failed attempt by the allies to capture the fort at the entrance to The Dardanelles and to capture Constantinople from the Turkish Ottoman Empire. There were estimated to be 250,000 casualties on each side.
